Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has responded to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor made comments mocking Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his public dancing.
Davido, who is the nephew of Governor Adeleke, reacted by sharing what appeared to be Okpebholo’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Stories on Friday. Although the singer did not attach any words to the post, many social media users interpreted the move as a direct response to the Edo governor’s remarks.
The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election, where Governor Adeleke is seeking another term. Davido has remained one of his uncle’s most visible supporters, joining campaign activities and publicly backing his re-election bid.
Okpebholo had earlier criticised Adeleke’s leadership style during an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally for the party’s Osun governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
Speaking at the rally, which was attended by Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Okpebholo questioned Adeleke’s frequent dancing at public events and suggested that it affected his focus on governance.
“Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” the Edo governor said.
Okpebholo also encouraged voters to accept financial support from political opponents but vote for the APC candidate during the election, a comment that has generated reactions online.
Davido’s latest action adds another layer to the ongoing political exchange surrounding the Osun election, where personalities from the entertainment industry and political circles have become increasingly involved.
The singer has repeatedly defended Governor Adeleke and recently called for a peaceful, transparent, and credible election process in Osun State.
