Former Big Brother Naija housemate Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, has confirmed that his relationship with fellow reality TV star Bella Okagbue ended in January 2026, bringing an end to months of speculation about the couple’s status.
Sheggz addressed the breakup in a statement shared on social media early Wednesday, while strongly denying allegations that he cheated on or abused Bella during their relationship. He said he had deliberately stayed silent about their private life out of respect for his family and because he preferred to keep personal matters away from public attention.
The reality TV star said he decided to speak after what he described as efforts to damage his reputation. Sheggz maintained that he values family, friendship, integrity and his faith, adding that he does not consider himself an abuser.
He also denied cheating on Bella and said he has remained single since their relationship ended in January. According to Sheggz, the pair attempted to reconcile after the breakup, but he eventually decided that concerns about trust and respect made it difficult for him to consider marriage.
Sheggz disclosed that 2025 was a particularly difficult year for him, saying he spent a significant amount of time in and out of hospital receiving treatment. He said he later recovered in England before returning to Nigeria in October 2025, where he encountered information that made him question the level of honesty in the relationship.
The former BBNaija housemate said he had been serious about building a future with Bella and had even bought an engagement ring because he believed their relationship could lead to marriage. However, he said his understanding of marriage requires trust, honesty, mutual respect and open communication.
Despite the breakdown of the relationship, Sheggz said he does not want the matter to turn into a prolonged public dispute. He appealed for both families to be allowed to move forward peacefully, while wishing Bella well and expressing hope that everyone involved could eventually move on with dignity.
