The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable for primary elections to select candidates for the 2026 legislative bye-elections and four State House of Assembly constituencies recently restored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The party said the move became necessary after INEC restored four previously suppressed State Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states. Fresh primaries will now be held to nominate APC candidates for the affected seats.
The restored constituencies are Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II in Delta State, and Yagba West II in Kogi State.
In a notice issued to its state chapters, the APC also listed constituencies where it will conduct primaries ahead of the 2026 legislative bye-elections. The affected areas span Gombe, Bauchi, Delta and Kano states.
They include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State; Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi State; Udu State Constituency in Delta State; and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State.
The party directed its chapters in the affected states to follow the approved timetable and schedule of activities for the primary elections. The exercise is expected to determine the party’s candidates for both the restored Assembly seats and the forthcoming bye-elections.
The APC also urged aspirants, party officials, members and other stakeholders in the affected constituencies to comply with the guidelines and deadlines governing the process.
The announcement comes as INEC prepares for the 2026 legislative bye-elections and implements the restoration of the four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies. The outcome of the APC primaries will determine who represents the party in the affected contests.
