President Bola Tinubu has condemned the deadly attack on Naridon Village in Kamaru Ward of Kauru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, where about 30 people were killed in one of the latest deadly assaults to hit the state.
The attack, which occurred late Sunday night into the early hours of Monday, left women and children among the dead, while dozens of homes and businesses were destroyed after gunmen reportedly set the community ablaze. Several residents also sustained injuries during the raid.
Describing the massacre as a “barbaric and cowardly” act, President Tinubu vowed that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice. He stressed that criminal groups would not be allowed to reverse the security gains recorded in Kaduna State in recent months.
“I have directed the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force and relevant intelligence agencies to intensify operations across the affected areas to swiftly apprehend the perpetrators, secure the release of abducted persons and restore normalcy to the community,” the President said.
Tinubu also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture through better-equipped security personnel, improved operational capacity, and sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks threatening lives and communities across the country.
The President appealed to residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence that could help prevent future attacks and improve emergency response. He also expressed condolences to the families of those killed, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, and the people of the state, assuring them that the Federal Government remains committed to restoring lasting peace.
Residents said heavily armed attackers stormed Naridon Village at about 11 p.m. on Sunday, opening fire on sleeping residents before setting houses on fire. At least 30 people, including eight children, lost their lives, while many others were injured. The assault also destroyed several homes and business premises.
The latest killings have sparked fresh outrage across the country, with political leaders, community groups, and civil society organisations demanding stronger security measures and justice for the victims. The attack is the latest in a string of violent raids that have continued to affect communities in southern Kaduna despite ongoing military and security operations.
