Taylor Swift’s wedding celebrations have taken an unusual turn after dozens of fans bought pieces of rubbish collected from outside the venue where the pop superstar married NFL star Travis Kelce.

New York artist Justin Gignac gathered the discarded items from streets surrounding Madison Square Garden last Friday, where the celebrity couple hosted a lavish wedding attended by hundreds of high-profile guests.

Among the items sold were cigarette butts, bottle caps, drinking straws, plastic utensils, police caution tape, a single AirPod, candy wrappers and even an ovulation test kit. Each item was individually sealed inside a small transparent plastic cube and marketed as a “sculpture.”

According to Gignac, all 50 items were purchased within 24 hours of going on sale at $25 each, generating $1,250 in sales. He said the response has encouraged him to consider releasing more items from the collection.

“It’s getting a lot of Swifties who just want a tangential piece of the wedding,” Gignac told AFP. He explained that his project aims to preserve memorable moments in New York City’s cultural history by turning everyday objects into collectible keepsakes.

The artist noted that all the items were collected from public areas outside the security barriers surrounding the wedding venue and not from inside the ceremony itself. To reinforce the wedding theme, he said he tied some of the rubbish into decorative knots before displaying them.

The high-profile wedding attracted worldwide attention, with fans gathering around the venue in hopes of catching a glimpse of Swift and Kelce. The event, attended by numerous celebrities, was widely described by entertainment observers as one of the biggest celebrity weddings of the year.

The rapid sell-out highlights the extraordinary level of fan devotion surrounding Swift, whose personal life and relationships have long attracted global interest alongside her record-breaking music career.
