Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has spoken candidly about the emotional impact of body shaming, revealing that she faced criticism both when she was overweight and after losing nearly half of her body weight.
The actress shared her thoughts in a heartfelt post on her verified Instagram page, reflecting on her five-year transformation from 170 kilograms to 83 kilograms and urging people to show more kindness online.
Badmus said her weight loss journey was anything but easy, describing it as years of discipline, sacrifice, setbacks and unwavering commitment to improving her health.
“Five years ago, I weighed 170KG. Today, in 2026, I weigh 83KG. That didn’t happen overnight. It took years of discipline, sacrifice, pain, consistency, tears, setbacks and choosing my health every single day,” she wrote.
Despite achieving a major personal milestone, the actress said she remains the target of harsh comments from the same people who once mocked her for being plus-sized.
“What exactly do you want from me?” she asked, expressing frustration over the continued criticism.
Badmus explained that losing almost 90 kilograms naturally brought physical changes, including changes to her skin. She said she is taking care of herself by maintaining a healthy lifestyle and using collagen supplements while embracing every stage of her transformation.
She also admitted that the hurtful comments still affect her, even though she rarely responds publicly.
“Just because I don’t respond to the insults doesn’t mean they don’t hurt. It doesn’t mean I’m weak. I’m human. Blood runs through my veins just like yours. Words have consequences,” she said.
The actress urged Nigerians to focus on the determination and resilience behind her transformation rather than searching for flaws in her appearance.
“Going from 170KG to 83KG isn’t a small achievement. Instead of constantly pointing out what you think is wrong with my body, why not celebrate the strength, determination and resilience it took to get here? If you don’t have anything kind to say, it’s okay to say nothing at all.”
Badmus also challenged women to be more supportive of one another, noting that much of the online criticism she has received came from other women. She stressed that no one deserves to be ridiculed because of their body size or appearance.
Her latest message echoes comments she made earlier this year, when she said her decision to lose weight was motivated by self-love, improved health and personal growth—not by pressure to conform to society’s beauty standards.
