Omotayo Sanusi, popularly known as Iyan Aladuke and the estranged wife of Nollywood actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo, has publicly dismissed viral claims linking actresses Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele to the collapse of her marriage.
Breaking her silence in a lengthy statement shared on Instagram on Wednesday, Sanusi described the allegations circulating on social media as completely false, saying neither actress played any role in the challenges that ended her marriage.
She explained that although she had intentionally stayed silent amid months of speculation, she decided to speak out because the rumours were increasingly being presented as facts.
“I have deliberately chosen not to publicly respond to the many false stories and allegations surrounding my marriage. However, because these narratives continue to spread and are being presented as facts, I believe it is necessary to address one of them,” she wrote.
Sanusi specifically denied claims that Toyin Abraham informed her that another actress was romantically involved with Femi Adebayo during the production of a movie, prompting her to storm the set and confront those allegedly involved.
“The allegation that actress Toyin Abraham was responsible for the problems in my marriage by allegedly informing me that another actress was with my then-partner on a movie set is completely false. For the record, I never confronted, attacked, assaulted, or harassed any woman or man at any movie location. No such incident ever took place,” she stated.
According to Sanusi, she was present throughout the production frequently referenced in the rumours and actively supported the project. She said her team handled the welfare of more than 500 cast and crew members for over a month, making it impossible for such an incident to have occurred unnoticed.
She challenged anyone claiming to have been assaulted or harassed by her during the production to publicly present evidence. Until then, she urged people to stop spreading what she described as baseless stories.
Sanusi also stressed that her silence should never have been interpreted as an admission of guilt. She said she had remained quiet out of respect for everyone involved and in an effort to avoid public conflict but felt compelled to correct the record as the allegations continued to gain traction online.
In a separate Instagram post, she criticised what she described as the double standards of social media users who readily believed damaging rumours but questioned her decision to defend herself. “Truth deserves the same platform that lies were given. Silence should never be mistaken for guilt,” she wrote.
Responding to a follower who urged her to also clear Funke Akindele’s name over previous allegations, Sanusi denied ever making any accusations against the award-winning actress. She challenged anyone claiming otherwise to provide evidence, insisting that edited voice notes and unverified claims should not be treated as facts.
The clarification comes after renewed online speculation fuelled by a TikTok blogger, who alleged that Toyin Abraham informed Sanusi about an alleged relationship between Femi Adebayo and Funke Akindele during the production of Jagun Jagun Part 2. The claims also alleged that Sanusi confronted Akindele on set and that the incident contributed to the breakdown of her marriage. Sanusi has now categorically rejected those allegations, distancing both actresses from the controversy.
