Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have paid glowing tributes to Peter Obi as the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) marked his 65th birthday.
The congratulatory messages, shared separately on Facebook on Sunday, praised Obi’s years of public service, leadership qualities and commitment to Nigeria’s democratic growth ahead of the 2027 general election.
Atiku, who described Obi as a dear brother, commended the former Anambra State governor for his dedication to public service and his contributions to strengthening democracy in Nigeria. He prayed for continued good health, wisdom and renewed strength for the NDC presidential candidate.

Kwankwaso, who is Obi’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, also hailed him as a leader defined by integrity, humility and strong convictions. He said Obi’s modest lifestyle and principled approach to leadership continue to inspire millions of Nigerians.
According to Kwankwaso, Obi has remained an outstanding ally and a consistent voice for national development since emerging as the NDC’s presidential candidate. He wished him good health, greater strength and more impact as he continues his political journey.

Peter Obi, who served as governor of Anambra State, is leading the Nigeria Democratic Congress into the 2027 presidential election, with Kwankwaso as his running mate. The duo previously contested the 2023 presidential election separately, finishing third and fourth behind President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar, who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
