Aisha Yesufu Criticizes Seun Akinbaloye’s Interview With Peter Obi, Says Viewers ‘Wasted Their Time’

Socio-political activist Aisha Yesufu has criticized the recent television interview between Channels TV presenter Seun Akinbaloye and Labour Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing the session as repetitive and lacking fresh substance.

Peter Obi appeared on Channels Television on Sunday, where he discussed national issues, governance and his ambition to contest the 2027 presidential election. Since the interview aired, several clips have circulated across social media, sparking widespread debate among supporters and critics alike.

Reacting in a video shared on X, Yesufu said she was disappointed by the line of questioning, arguing that the interview failed to introduce new issues or challenge Obi with questions that had not already been addressed in previous public appearances.

“So Mr Peter Obi did an interview yesterday with Seun. I absolutely feel irritated by the whole thing,” she said.

According to the activist, interviews with Obi usually generate anticipation because of the expectation of new ideas or perspectives. However, she said this particular appearance left her frustrated because the discussion covered familiar ground without offering viewers fresh insights.

“There is nothing he said that has not been talked about. I would have picked one or two things from the interview so we could talk about them, but I have been going through it and I have not seen any new questions or questions that we don’t already know the answers to. We wasted our time,” she stated.

Yesufu also argued that excessive attention continues to be placed on Obi while other political figures face fewer public interviews. She questioned why journalists repeatedly direct similar questions at the Labour Party candidate instead of focusing more on those currently in government.

She further claimed that greater scrutiny should be directed at President Bola Tinubu’s administration, suggesting that public officials in office should be more regularly questioned about governance and national issues.

The interview continues to generate reactions online, with supporters and critics offering differing opinions on both Obi’s responses and the questions posed during the television appearance.
