Prominent leaders and stakeholders from Imo East Senatorial District (Owerri Zone) have thrown their weight behind former Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere, endorsing him as their preferred candidate for the Senate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Sunday in Owerri, where the stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence in Madumere’s leadership, describing him as a capable and experienced public servant with the credentials to represent the district effectively at the National Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Ezenta Chibuike Ejimkonye said the decision followed careful consideration of Madumere’s record in public office, particularly in youth empowerment, infrastructural development, human capital development and inclusive governance.
According to Ejimkonye, the former deputy governor has built a reputation as a technocrat, administrator and advocate for people-centred leadership, earning the confidence of stakeholders across Owerri Zone.
“We have collectively resolved and endorsed the candidacy of Prince Eze Madumere to represent us at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly, having known his antecedents and pedigree as a man with the capacity, reach and contacts to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people,” he said.
The stakeholders also appealed to political party members, traditional rulers, community leaders, women, youths and other residents of Imo East Senatorial District to unite behind Madumere’s aspiration and mobilise support for his candidacy ahead of the 2027 elections. They expressed confidence that his emergence would guarantee responsive representation and accelerated development for the zone.
Responding to the endorsement, Madumere thanked the stakeholders for their confidence in him, describing the gesture as both humbling and motivating. He pledged to pursue an open-door leadership style built on accessibility, inclusiveness and accountability if elected.
The former deputy governor said he would enter into a “social contract” with the people to ensure his performance remains open to public assessment. He also described his political journey as a divine calling and urged stakeholders across Owerri Zone to remain united in pursuit of sustainable development, promising to champion collective decision-making, excellence and people-focused representation.
