The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has dismissed claims that it sold 69 nomination forms to Rabiu Kwankwaso, the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), describing the allegation as false and politically fabricated.

PRP National Chairman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, made the clarification during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday, where he strongly rejected the reports linking Kwankwaso to the party’s nomination process.

The allegation had suggested that Kwankwaso purchased dozens of nomination forms in a move aimed at influencing or taking control of the PRP ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Baba-Ahmed insisted there was no truth to the claim, stressing that Kwankwaso neither bought any forms nor has any formal relationship with the party.

He also aligned with the party’s secretary, Alhaji Musa Maigari, who earlier dismissed the report as false and misleading.

According to Baba-Ahmed, the PRP’s official structure makes it impossible for such a transaction to occur in the manner being alleged.

He explained that nomination forms are issued from the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, not through unofficial channels or individuals in state chapters.

“There’s no way Kwankwaso could have bought 69 forms from the PRP in Kano. We don’t sell forms in Kano. We sell forms from Abuja,” he said.

The PRP chairman further stated that the individual behind the allegation is not recognised by the party and has no authority to act on its behalf or sell nomination forms.

He described the claim as politically motivated, suggesting it may have been manufactured as part of internal political maneuvering in Kano State.

Baba-Ahmed added that the party had already conducted its nomination process more than a month earlier, with candidates participating in primaries after purchasing forms through official channels.

He reaffirmed that the PRP remains focused on its internal processes and would not be drawn into what he called distractions or misinformation ahead of future elections.
