Popular Nigerian influencer Papaya Ex has come under scrutiny after a man publicly accused her of failing to pay his sister, who he claims works as her personal assistant.
The allegation surfaced in a viral video circulating on social media, where the man claimed his sister had been working for the influencer for the past three months without receiving her agreed salary.
According to him, the personal assistant was employed on a monthly salary of N120,000 but allegedly continued performing her duties despite not being paid. He said several attempts to resolve the issue privately yielded no results.
The man further alleged that tensions escalated following an incident in which Papaya Ex reportedly misplaced her iPhone 16 Pro Max at a public event. Although he did not provide details linking the unpaid salary to the missing phone, he suggested that circumstances changed after the incident.
Sharing his account in the video, the man claimed he later approached the influencer personally to plead on behalf of his sister regarding the outstanding wages. During the encounter, he alleged that Papaya Ex seized his mobile phone.
He explained that he works as a mobile videographer and said losing access to his device significantly affected his livelihood and daily activities.
As of the time of this report, Papaya Ex has not publicly responded to the allegations, and the claims have not been independently verified.
The controversy comes weeks after the influencer appealed to the public for help recovering her missing iPhone 16 Pro Max, which she reportedly lost at a movie premiere. At the time, she offered a reward of N700,000 to anyone who could provide information leading to the phone’s recovery.
With the allegations now gaining traction online, social media users have been debating issues surrounding employer-employee relationships, salary disputes, and the responsibilities of public figures toward their staff.
