Police in Ondo State have arrested a 38-year-old man, identified as Kingsley Nsikak, for allegedly killing his 65-year-old father during a violent confrontation at their residence in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area.
The tragic incident has sparked concern among residents after reports emerged that a disagreement between the father and son escalated into a physical assault with fatal consequences.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, the suspect allegedly attacked his father, Peter Adone, during a heated argument on May 28, 2026. The elderly man reportedly suffered serious injuries during the altercation.
Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Adone later died from the injuries he sustained. His body has since been deposited in a morgue pending further procedures.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the case was reported to the police by Daniel Moses, another son of the deceased and brother to the suspect.
Jimoh explained that detectives immediately launched an investigation after receiving the complaint and moved quickly to apprehend the suspect.
“The tragic incident occurred in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State and has generated widespread concern among residents of the area,” the police spokesperson said.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that on 28th May, 2026, the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation which escalated into a physical assault.”
He added that police operatives arrested the suspect shortly after the report was made and have since taken him into custody for further questioning.
The police spokesperson stated that investigations are ongoing and assured that the suspect would be charged to court once the inquiry is concluded.
The incident adds to growing concerns over domestic violence and family-related conflicts, with residents calling for greater efforts to address disputes before they escalate into tragedy.
