Controversial Nigerian singer and rapper Speed Darlington has spoken candidly about his personal life, expressing regret over being unmarried and childless as he approaches his 60th birthday.
The self-styled “Akpi” crooner shared his feelings in a recent video, saying he wants more from life than the achievements he currently has.
Reflecting on his journey, Speed Darlington said he believes he should have built a family by now, describing marriage, children and personal fulfilment as priorities that remain unfulfilled.
“I am close to 60 with no wife or child. Is this how I am going to live my life? All I have to show is American papers. I want more than American papers out of life,” he said.
The singer added that beyond material success, he now desires stability and meaningful relationships.
“I want family, freedom and respect,” he stated.
His latest comments have sparked conversations on social media, with many fans reacting to his emotional reflection and discussing the pressures surrounding marriage and family life.
The remarks also revive memories of his widely publicised search for a wife several years ago. At the time, Speed Darlington openly announced that he was looking for a life partner and listed specific qualities he wanted in his ideal spouse.
According to the criteria he shared, his preferred partner should be dark-skinned, between the ages of 18 and 23, at least 5 feet 8 inches tall, weigh less than 150 pounds, and be fluent in both English and Igbo.
Despite the public appeal, the singer has yet to find a wife, with his latest statement suggesting that he remains hopeful of eventually achieving the family life he desires.
Known for his outspoken personality and unconventional social media presence, Speed Darlington frequently makes headlines for his controversial remarks. This time, however, his message has revealed a more reflective side of the entertainer as he considers his future beyond fame.
