Before becoming one of Nollywood’s most recognizable faces, actress and model Beverly Osu had a very different future in mind—life in a convent as a Catholic reverend sister.
The actress made the revelation during an appearance on the Creativtea Podcast, where she reflected on her childhood ambitions and the strong influence of her religious upbringing.
According to Osu, her desire to join the convent was genuine and grew stronger during her formative years. Raised in a devout Catholic environment, she admired the dedication, discipline, and lifestyle of priests and reverend sisters.
Far from being a passing childhood dream, she said she seriously envisioned spending her life in religious service.
“I was meant to be a Reverend Sister. I wanted to really be a Reverend Sister,” Osu said during the interview.
She explained that her fascination was driven not only by faith but also by the orderliness and appearance of those serving in the Church.
“I love how they dress. Because I am meticulous and very neat, I just loved how clean the priests and Reverend Sisters were. Literally, that was it,” she added.
Although her life eventually took a different direction, leading her into the entertainment industry, Osu believes she continues to make a positive impact through her work and public engagements.
“Now, I am doing God’s work in other ways,” she said, suggesting that purpose and service can take different forms outside traditional religious vocations.
Over the years, Beverly Osu has built a successful career in Nollywood, earning recognition for her acting performances, modeling career, advocacy efforts, and candid views on social issues.
Her latest disclosure has offered fans a rare glimpse into an alternative path she once considered before finding fame in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
The revelation has also sparked conversations among fans, many of whom were surprised to learn that the actress once envisioned a life far removed from the glamour of film and television.
