A suspected bandit known as “Sule Yellow,” who reportedly gained notoriety on TikTok for flaunting large sums of cash online, has allegedly been arrested by Nigerian Army troops.

Reports indicate that the suspect was intercepted while returning to a forest hideout after allegedly collecting ransom money from the family of a kidnapping victim.

Sule Yellow had reportedly become a controversial figure on social media, attracting attention through videos in which he allegedly displayed bundles of cash believed to be proceeds from criminal activities.

The suspect’s online presence reportedly earned him a significant following on TikTok, where some of his videos circulated widely across northern Nigeria and beyond.

Security sources quoted in reports claim that troops tracked and apprehended the suspect during an operation targeting criminal elements operating within forested areas known for kidnapping and banditry activities.

The reported arrest has generated widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern over the growing trend of suspected criminals using social media platforms to display wealth and gain public attention.

Analysts have repeatedly warned that the glorification of criminal lifestyles on digital platforms could encourage copycat behaviour and undermine efforts to discourage youth involvement in crime.

Despite the reports, neither the Nigerian Army nor other security agencies had issued an official statement on the alleged arrest as of the time of filing this report.

Further details surrounding the operation, including the location of the arrest and whether any ransom money or weapons were recovered, remain unclear.
