Global pop icon Shakira has officially unveiled a preview of the FIFA World Cup 2026 theme song — and Nigerian superstar Burna Boy is at the centre of the historic collaboration.
The Colombian singer shared a teaser of the track, titled Dai Dai, on her X account on Thursday, confirming Burna Boy as her co-artist for the official tournament anthem ahead of next year’s World Cup.
“From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the @FIFAWorldCup Official Song 2026. Coming 5/14. We’re ready! ⚽️🐺 @burnaboy,” Shakira posted alongside the snippet.
The full soundtrack is scheduled for release on May 14, weeks before the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off on June 11. The opening match will see Mexico face South Africa at the iconic Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
The collaboration marks another major international milestone for Burna Boy, who becomes only the second Nigerian artist to feature on an official FIFA World Cup song. Davido previously represented Nigeria on the soundtrack for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Shakira remains one of the most recognisable voices linked to FIFA tournaments, having delivered several iconic World Cup songs over the years, including Waka Waka and La La La. Her latest partnership with Burna Boy is already generating excitement among football and music fans worldwide.
Burna Boy’s growing global influence has continued to place Afrobeats on some of the world’s biggest stages. Beyond FIFA, the Grammy-winning singer previously collaborated with Becky G on a UEFA Champions League anthem and performed live at the 2023 Champions League final in Turkey.
While FIFA has yet to confirm performers for the World Cup opening and closing ceremonies, speculation is mounting over whether Burna Boy and Shakira will take the stage during the tournament.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is expected to hold on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, United States, capping off what is projected to be one of the biggest editions of the tournament in history.
With Dai Dai already generating buzz online, fans are eagerly awaiting the full release of what could become the next global football anthem.
