Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State has congratulated Rt. Hon. Jones Onyereri, High Chief Mike Duru Ejiogu and Prince Eze Madumere following their emergence as the party’s senatorial candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The candidates emerged after the PDP senatorial primaries concluded on Wednesday across the state’s three senatorial districts.
In a statement issued by the party, the Imo PDP described the trio as experienced political figures with strong electoral appeal and leadership credentials capable of securing victory for the party in 2027.
Jones Onyereri emerged as the party’s candidate for Imo West Senatorial District, also known as Orlu Zone. The former two-term House of Representatives member previously served between 2011 and 2019 and was the PDP deputy governorship candidate during the 2023 governorship election in Imo State.
The party described Onyereri as a seasoned administrator and businessman with what it called “extraordinary popularity” across Orlu Zone and beyond.
For Imo North Senatorial District, also known as Okigwe Zone, the PDP selected High Chief Mike Duru Ejiogu, a businessman and founding member of the party. According to the statement, Ejiogu is widely recognised for his philanthropy, community development projects and support for youth and women empowerment initiatives.
Meanwhile, Eze Madumere secured the PDP ticket for Imo East Senatorial District, popularly referred to as Owerri Zone. Madumere, a former deputy governor of the state, was described by the party as an experienced administrator and long-standing political figure.
The Imo PDP leadership said it is satisfied with the calibre of candidates produced through the primaries, insisting they possess the competence and political experience needed to compete strongly in the next general elections.
The party also expressed confidence under the leadership of State Chairman Austine Nwachukwu and National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu that the emergence of the candidates positions the PDP strongly ahead of the 2027 polls.
Calling for unity among party members and supporters, the PDP urged the electorate across Imo State to support its candidates as part of efforts to deliver what it described as a positive turnaround for the state.
The statement was signed by Lancelot Obiaku, the State Publicity Secretary of the party.
