A growing public fallout involving media personality Roby and his former partner Mayowa has escalated into legal threats, emotional revelations, and heated celebrity reactions across social media.
The controversy gained momentum after Mayowa reportedly married David Ayuba in the United States, a development that surprised many observers who still associated her with Roby, whom she married in November 2015. No official confirmation of a separation had been made public before the new marriage surfaced, fueling widespread speculation online.
The situation took a more personal turn when Roby appeared on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he opened up about difficulties in the relationship. He pointed to unresolved issues during their marriage, including claims around intimacy struggles and emotional strain.
In a deeply emotional moment during the interview, Roby alleged that Mayowa had misled him and secretly used contraceptives to avoid pregnancy. The claims quickly triggered intense reactions on social media, with opinions sharply divided between sympathy and criticism.
The fallout didn’t stay private for long. Public figures Yul Edochie and Do2dtun were drawn into a social media exchange after reacting to Roby’s emotional disclosure, further amplifying the already heated conversation online.
Responding days later via Instagram, Roby expressed gratitude to supporters who stood by him, while also addressing those who criticised his emotional display. He insisted his reaction was rooted in love and sincerity rather than drama or attention-seeking.
“Hello people, thank you for all the support and kind words. The DMs, the emails and calls. I love you all. My heart feels lighter and free. For those who my tears offended, I am sorry. Pain leaves the body in many forms. Na love I love. I only know how to love deeply,” he wrote.
He added that he is now redirecting his energy toward his career and personal development, stressing that ongoing issues would be handled through legal channels. “From this point, it’s my work, my career and my undying passion to be good to myself and be softer with myself… Every other matter is being handled by my lawyers,” he said.
The dispute has since taken a legal turn after Mayowa demanded N100 million in damages from Roby, accusing him of defamation and harassment. The claim intensified public attention on the case and raised the stakes in the already volatile dispute.
In response, Roby’s legal team dismissed the demand as excessive and without basis, arguing that his statements were drawn from personal experience and not intended to harm or defame. The team maintained that there was no malicious intent behind his comments.
As both sides harden their positions, the matter now appears set to move beyond social media into a formal legal battle, with public interest continuing to grow.
