The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 general elections, while also settling on Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as its consensus governorship candidate.

The decisions were reached on Monday during a strategic caucus meeting held at the party’s state secretariat in Abeokuta, bringing together top political stakeholders, including Governor Dapo Abiodun and his deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele.

Party leaders described the meeting as a critical step toward strengthening internal unity, reviewing emerging political dynamics, and consolidating the APC’s dominance in the state ahead of the next election cycle.

Governor Abiodun, who led discussions as the party’s leader in Ogun State, said the endorsement of Senator Adeola was part of efforts to resolve long-standing political expectations within the state, particularly the push for power rotation to the Ogun West senatorial district.

He explained that extensive consultations were held with key stakeholders, including meetings involving President Tinubu and senior party figures, aimed at ensuring broad acceptance of the party’s direction.

According to him, the selection process was based on competence, political strength, and the need to present a unified front. He added that several aspirants had been engaged and had agreed to support the consensus arrangement.

Abiodun also noted that the APC remains the dominant political force in the state, stressing the need for cohesion among members as preparations intensify for 2027. He urged party stakeholders to align with the collective decision to avoid internal divisions.

Senator Adeola, in his acceptance remarks, expressed appreciation to party leaders for the confidence placed in him, promising to justify the mandate and work toward delivering electoral success for the APC in Ogun State.

The meeting also drew a wide range of political figures, including former governors, former deputy governors, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, and senior party executives, reflecting what leaders described as broad-based internal consultation.

The endorsement of President Tinubu and the adoption of a consensus governorship candidate signal an early consolidation move by the APC in Ogun State as political positioning for 2027 gathers momentum nationwide.
