A luxury vehicle dispute has placed Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen under unexpected scrutiny after reports emerged that German automaker Mercedes-Benz has lodged a complaint against him in Italy over an unpaid lease agreement.

The complaint was reportedly filed with the Italian Carabinieri, with the company alleging that the Nigerian forward failed to complete payments on a vehicle leased in 2023 and has also not returned the car. The alleged outstanding debt is said to be around €90,000 (approximately ₦142 million).

Osimhen, one of football’s most prolific strikers in recent years, is currently a key figure at Galatasaray, where he earns over €20 million annually following a high-profile move from Napoli.

His career trajectory has seen major success across Europe, including standout spells in Belgium, France, Italy, and now Turkey. He played a defining role in Napoli’s historic Serie A title win — their first in nearly 33 years — which cemented his status as a fan favourite in Naples.

Despite his on-field success and reported high earnings, the latest development has raised questions due to the scale of the alleged unpaid sum compared to his income level.

Osimhen is also known for a visible luxury lifestyle and philanthropy, often supporting family, friends, and fans. Just last weekend, he reportedly sponsored Nigerian supporters to travel to Istanbul for a derby match against Fenerbahce, where he also scored in a 3–0 win for Galatasaray.

The striker has been associated with high-end vehicles and luxury jewellery, and has previously showcased a collection that includes multiple supercars and premium brands.

As of now, neither Osimhen nor his representatives have issued an official response to the allegations. The situation is expected to be addressed swiftly as the player continues his season in Turkey.
