Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, has rolled out a major empowerment initiative in Kano North Senatorial District, distributing 47 Sharon vehicles and 282 Boxer motorcycles to leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former party officials in the zone.
The distribution event, held on Wednesday, drew party stakeholders and beneficiaries who received the vehicles as part of what the senator described as a broader effort to support economic self-reliance and grassroots development.
Representing Senator Barau at the event, his Chief of Staff, Muhammad Abdullahi, said the initiative was designed to help beneficiaries build sustainable sources of income and improve their livelihoods.
He also praised the senator’s leadership, noting that Kano North has continued to benefit from what he described as consistent developmental interventions. He dismissed criticism targeted at the senator, insisting that such attacks would not distract ongoing empowerment efforts.
Abdullahi urged recipients of the vehicles and motorcycles not to sell them, but to use them productively to generate income and support their families.
According to the senator’s media aide, Shittu Madaki, more empowerment items are expected in subsequent phases of the programme. He confirmed that the current distribution includes 47 cars and 282 motorcycles, with additional support already being planned.
The State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Salihu Takai, also commended the initiative, linking it to President Bola Tinubu’s national development vision. He said the programme reflects efforts to reduce poverty at the grassroots level and strengthen economic activity within communities.
Takai added that Senator Barau’s interventions in Kano North are not new, describing the initiative as part of a sustained pattern of constituency-focused empowerment programmes.
Beneficiaries of the distribution include APC local government chairmen, their secretaries, and former party officials across the senatorial district.
The empowerment exercise has further strengthened Barau Jibrin’s political presence in Kano North, where he continues to position himself as a key figure in both party organisation and grassroots development efforts.
