Nigerian singer and songwriter Niniola Apata has dismissed ongoing rumours suggesting she secretly tied the knot.
The ‘Maradona’ hitmaker, who has maintained a relatively low public profile in recent months, clarified during an interview with Yanga FM Lagos that she is not married and has no reason to hide her marital status.
The 38-year-old Afro-House star said she finds the speculation amusing and urged fans to focus on her music rather than her personal life.
“I don’t care whatever anyone does or says [regarding my personal life]. After all, I’m not a 12-year-old. I’m old enough to say whatever it is I want to say with my full chest. I’m not married,” Niniola stated.
There had been social media chatter claiming the singer got married secretly and decided to keep it away from the spotlight to protect her brand and bookings.
Niniola, however, insisted that there was no truth to such claims, emphasising that she has always been open about her life.
When asked about the long-awaited collaboration with her younger sister, singer Teni, she said it would happen “when the time is right.”
“Music is business,” she said. “There’s no family in business — everything has to align perfectly before we work together.”
Her remarks have sparked conversations online, with fans expressing anticipation for a Niniola–Teni collaboration that has been years in the making.
