Former Imo State Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has officially aligned with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as the perfect platform for his political ideology and the Rebuild Imo Movement (RIM). Speaking at his Civic Centre residence on July 3, 2025, Ihedioha rallied his followers with a bold declaration: “My party, your party, our party is now ADC. That is the way to go.”
Addressing a gathering of RIM leaders from across the state, Ihedioha called on them to return to their communities and entrench ADC’s presence. He charged them to activate the movement’s grassroots machinery across the 27 local governments and 305 wards in the state, emphasizing the structure’s enduring relevance. “Our strength is the people, the masses. We already have representation in every booth. Let’s energize our base,” he urged.
The former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives emphasized the strategic value of grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections. “This movement is not just about winning elections, it’s about rebuilding trust, hope, and credibility in governance,” he stated, reinforcing his vision of people-driven politics.
Ihedioha acknowledged the long wait his supporters have endured since his controversial exit from the PDP in April 2024, assuring them that their loyalty would not be in vain. “You stood firm with me through uncertainty. Today, we begin again—with clarity, purpose, and a tested structure ready for victory,” he affirmed.
He reserved special appreciation for women and youth leaders within the movement, commending Lady Ijeoma Domike and other grassroots mobilizers. “Our women have carried this banner with grace. Our youth have shown unmatched commitment. Together, we are the unstoppable force this state needs,” Ihedioha noted.
Analysts say the ADC’s swelling ranks, now including Ihedioha and his formidable RIM network, mark a serious shake-up in Imo’s political terrain. With the PDP weakened in recent years and the APC battling internal factions, Ihedioha’s ADC could emerge as a third-force contender ahead of the next election cycle.
As the dust settles, Ihedioha’s next moves will be watched closely—especially with national realignments looming. For now, the message is clear: the former governor has picked his side, and he’s taking his movement with him.
