Controversy surrounding Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan deepened on Thursday night after U.S.-based media personality and activist Dr. Sandra Duru, popularly known as Professor Mgbeke, accused the suspended lawmaker of orchestrating a false sexual harassment and organ harvesting scandal against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. During a one-hour Facebook Live broadcast, Duru unveiled what she described as “undeniable evidence” implicating the senator in a politically-motivated smear campaign.
Dr. Duru displayed screenshots of call logs and WhatsApp chats, claiming Senator Natasha offered her ₦200 million to publicly accuse Akpabio of crimes linked to the death of a young woman, Iniubong Umoren, in 2021. According to her, the senator hoped that implicating Akpabio in a scandal involving sexual misconduct and organ trafficking would trigger public outrage and lead to his removal from office.
The activist alleged that Natasha’s failed attempt to weaponize sexual harassment claims against Akpabio prompted a pivot toward the more inflammatory organ harvesting narrative. “There was no sexual harassment. There was no organ harvesting. It was all fabricated,” Duru said, noting that autopsy reports on Umoren had already ruled out such claims.
Dr. Duru further accused Natasha of harboring a broader political agenda targeting the Nigerian presidency. According to her, Natasha stated that the campaign was less about Akpabio and more about ensuring that the current Yoruba-led government does not remain in power beyond four years. She claimed Natasha was promised either the Kogi State governorship or a federal cabinet role in exchange for engineering Akpabio’s downfall.
“She called Nigerians gullible and hungry,” Duru said during the broadcast. “She disrespected Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, calling her a ‘useful idiot.’ This woman is on a mission to destroy anyone who doesn’t serve her political interests.”
The activist revealed that she has submitted the alleged evidence to authorities in the United States and several other countries for forensic authentication. She also called on Nigerian security agencies, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and the police to investigate Natasha’s role in spreading misinformation and attempting to weaponize public sentiment for political gain.
As the explosive allegations ricochet across social media and political circles, demands are growing for a formal investigation into the claims. With Senator Natasha already under suspension, this latest twist may further damage her credibility and reshape the ongoing battle for influence within Nigeria’s volatile political landscape.
