Destiny Etiko wasted no time responding to incendiary social media allegations when Nollywood actress Queeneth Hilbert accused her of stealing her rich boyfriend and other colleagues’ partners. Etiko’s legal team, led by Chisom Onugah and C.C. Nwabundo, served a cease-and-desist letter on Saturday, demanding a public retraction and apology within 48 hours, alongside a N100 million claim for damages.
The lawsuit, filed on March 9, 2025, alleges that Queeneth’s claims were made solely to secure material gains, tarnishing Etiko’s reputation and professional standing. Etiko, who shared the letter on her Instagram page, strongly denied the allegations, insisting that the dispute is politically and financially motivated.
Legal experts note that defamation cases in the Nigerian entertainment industry have grown increasingly common, with this high-stakes suit poised to set a precedent for addressing unsubstantiated claims in the digital age. Industry insiders predict that the outcome could influence public perceptions of celebrity endorsements and rivalries within Nollywood.
Authorities and legal observers are closely monitoring the developments, as the case gathers momentum among social media users and entertainment stakeholders eager for transparency and justice in the celebrity world.
