Equatorial Guinea is embroiled in a new scandal as video footage leaked on social media purportedly shows the wife of Baltasar Ebang Engonga, recently dismissed Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), in an extramarital affair. The footage surfaced amid an ongoing investigation into Engonga’s alleged financial misconduct and a previous discovery of 400 sex tapes reportedly linked to him.

Prominent social critic Martins Ortse, known as VeryDarkMan, revealed the video on Instagram, stating, “Just when I thought it was over about this Equatorial Guinea man, things got more interesting.” The video has since ignited widespread discussion, adding a complex layer to the existing scandal involving Engonga.

Engonga was recently dismissed from his post at ANIF following revelations of financial irregularities and possession of explicit videos involving various women. The scandal has drawn significant attention, leading to public debate over privacy, ethics, and corruption in Equatorial Guinea.

Equatorial Guinea’s First Lady, Constancia Mangue Obiang, expressed her outrage over the leaks, particularly highlighting concerns for the privacy and dignity of Equatoguinean women. In a recent meeting with Prime Minister Manuel Osa Nsue, she called for government measures to protect citizens from digital privacy breaches and uphold the reputation of Equatorial Guinea’s women.

The scandal has not only led to Engonga’s arrest but has also sparked a push for stricter policies on digital privacy and accountability for high-ranking officials. Engonga’s dismissal underscores the government’s determination to address corruption within its ranks, while the release of private material has raised urgent calls for privacy reforms and respect for personal boundaries in an increasingly digital age.
