Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Adoza Bello, is set to be arraigned this morning at the Federal High Court in Abuja by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He faces 19 fresh charges related to alleged money laundering.

The arraignment, initially slated for January 27, 2025, was expedited following Bello’s recent presence at the EFCC office. Justice Emeka Nwite is expected to preside over the proceedings, where Bello’s plea will be formally taken.

This marks the second legal battle for Bello in less than a month. On November 27, he was arraigned before the FCT High Court on a 16-count charge of alleged breach of trust. He pleaded not guilty and requested bail, with Justice Maryann Anenih reserving a ruling for December 10. Until then, Bello and two co-defendants remain in EFCC custody.
