The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.

South Africa took the lead in the 29th minute when Themba Zwane capitalized on a defensive lapse to score past Stanley Nwabali, the goalkeeper for Nigeria.

Nigeria responded swiftly after the break, with Fisayo Dele-Bashiru equalizing in the 46th minute with a spectacular long-range strike that left the South African goalkeeper, Ronwen Williams, rooted to the spot.

Despite several chances to secure a victory, Nigeria was thwarted by both the crossbar and the outstanding goalkeeping performance of Ronwen Williams.
