In a significant move aimed at bolstering the ‘Buy Made in Nigeria Project,’ the Director of the International Organisation Department, Oladunjoye Musiliu A., presided over the inauguration of a Steering Committee during a recent meeting. 

The event, which took place on Tuesday 23rd April, 2024 in Abuja, marked a crucial step towards identifying financial partners from the private sector and ensuring meticulous planning for the project’s success.

During his address, Director Oladunjoye emphasized the pivotal role of the Steering Committee members as individuals equipped with the acumen to identify potential financial partners.

He highlighted the committee’s responsibility in ensuring the successful implementation of the project, echoing the sentiments of the Executive Director of the ‘Buy Made in Nigeria Project Office,’ Nwabueze Buchi George  .

Acknowledging the SGF’s high regard for the project’s success, Buchi George conveyed the Permanent Secretary’s approval to inaugurate the Steering Committee, adding his Globe Chambers of Commerce and Industry who are behind the project will do everything in their power to support the committee. 

He said that making made in Nigeria Products global has been the goal of his organization and having the backing of the federal government to achieve it shows how pivotal the project is in the vision of turning the country’s economy around.

Following this, the Director of Information, Segun Imohiosen, officially inaugurated the committee and administered the oath of office to the appointed Chairman, Folashade Oje.

Addressing new developments, Mr. Nwabueze Buchi George informed the gathering about the project’s upcoming debut at the Global Housing and Real Estate Summit and Expo in Valletta, Malta. He outlined key activities to be undertaken, including stakeholder meetings and mobilizing financial partners.

The committee’s forthcoming actions involve presenting the revised concept note, organizing dinner activities with stakeholders, hosting a stakeholders’ meeting with top Real Estate Partners in Abuja, mobilizing financial private sectors for product showcasing, securing commitments from MDAs for seamless logistics arrangement, and ensuring application letters for Shenzhen Visas are dispatched before April 2024 concludes.

In her closing remarks, the Director, Oladunjoye, urged all participants to uphold honesty, dedication, and transparency so that the nation will benefit from the project.
