Operatives from the Rivers State Police Command have arrested 27-year-old Meshark Monday, a man allegedly specializing in car theft.

Monday was apprehended by the Crack Operatives of the Olu Obasanjo Division on Olu Obasanjo Road after displaying suspicious behavior and attempting to evade the police near the G.R.A junction.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Sunday. She noted that Monday was caught after a hot pursuit.

During interrogation, Monday, who works as a security officer at a Mobile Company, confessed to stealing a customer’s vehicle parked for maintenance, citing the temptation to improve his life as his motive.

The police have charged the case to court and are continuing their investigation to capture Monday’s accomplices.

Commissioner of Police Olatunji Disu has advised individuals to install security cameras and alarms to help prevent such thefts, especially outside of working hours.
