Two social media users, Tolulope Adeoye, known as Abike Jagaban, and Tolulope Odegbami, alias Olowosibi, have been summoned by the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6 for alleged “criminal defamation” of socialite Dorcas Adeyinka.

Chief Magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the summons, directing the defendants to appear in person before the court on June 4, 2024, to respond to the charges brought against them by the complainant.

In the criminal complaint filed by the complainant’s legal team, led by Pelumi Olajengbesi of the Abuja-based Law Corridor firm, it is alleged that the defendants shared nude photos of the complainant on social media and subjected her to ridicule.

The complaint accuses Abike Jagaban of sharing the complainant’s nude images on YouTube and directing followers to various online platforms where the images were shared, resulting in disparaging remarks against the complainant.

Additionally, the defendants are accused of circulating publications on social media, implicating the complainant in the death of an individual named Folusho Asimiyu, without any evidence linking her to the incident.

The complainant asserts that these actions constitute criminal defamation under Section 391 of the Penal Code.

In response, Magistrate Iyanna ordered the complainant to serve the defendants with the criminal summons and subsequent court processes via their social media handles. The case has been adjourned to June 4, 2024, with a directive for the defendants to appear in court on that date.
