In a ceremony held at the New State Executive Council Chambers, Imo State Government House, Owerri, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Governor of Imo State, swore in newly appointed commissioners and special advisers into office.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Uzodimma assured his supporters of ongoing appointments and swearing-in processes, emphasizing inclusivity in governance.

In his address, Governor Uzodimma emphasized the need for performance, warning against excuses and corruption among the newly appointed officials. To ensure accountability, a new office has been established within the Governor’s office to monitor their performance closely.

Furthermore, the Governor announced his personal assignment to the Ministry of Lands, attributing past administrative challenges to the ministry and pledging to prevent their recurrence.

Portfolios were assigned as follows:

  • Hon. Ralph Nwosu retained his position as the Honourable Commissioner for Works.
  • Hon. Declan Emelumba retained his role as the Honourable Commissioner for Information.
  • Hon. Ruby Emele was assigned to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
  • Hon. Chimezie Amadi retained his position as the Honourable Commissioner for Digital Economy.

New appointments include:

  • Hon. Bede Eke, Honourable Commissioner for Housing.
  • Hon. Modestus Osakwe, Ministry of Homeland Security.
  • Hon. Ikenga Elezieanya, Ministry of Science/Technology.
  • Hon. Ifeanyi Oruh, Ministry of Rural Development and Empowerment.

Governor Uzodimma reiterated his commitment to effective governance and promised further appointments and swearing-in ceremonies in the future to accommodate more qualified individuals.
