A builder identified as Chizoba Aniefuna and his two sons have lost their lives following the collapse of a one-storey building in Egbu Umuenem, Otolo Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
One of the relatives of the builder, who was also trapped in the building, was rescued and rushed to St. Felix Hospital, Nnewi.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, Anambra State Chairman of Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, Engr. Victor Meju stated that the poor quality of materials and non-approval from relevant regulatory authorities led to the avoidable tragedy.
He noted that Chukwunafu Anamanjo, the owner of the building, will be invited for questioning to aid in the investigation as he ordered the seal-off of the collapse site.
