Gunmen have kidnapped the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission for Bayelsa State, Gloria Izonfuo.

Izonfuo was reported to have been kidnapped at Ogbakiri junction on the East-West road, Rivers State.

Spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko who confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, said Izonfuo was kidnapped on Sunday evening alongside her maid and driver.

She was said to be on her way to Port Harcourt from Brass, Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that her abductors, on Monday made contact with her family, demanding N500 million as ransom.

The spokesperson of the State Command said the Commissioner of Police has deployed tactical teams to ensure she is rescued safe and unhurt.
