Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Dauda on Tuesday warned political parties that the command would be tougher on political thugs in the state.

The police commissioner gave the warning during a meeting with stakeholders ahead of the 2023 general election.

He said the meeting aims to sensitise all political party leaders and supporters on the need for peace and peaceful coexistence before, during, and after the election.

Represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Department of Operations, DCP Mu’as U. Mohammed, he said the meeting results from reports of clashes amongst political parties during campaigns.

He, therefore, urged the political party leaders to warn their supporters to be of good conduct by shunning any act capable of disrupting the peace being enjoyed in the state.

“We would not tolerate any surreptitious move by any political party to foment trouble, and that peace has no alternative,”

He said.

The political parties, however, appreciate the police for their efforts in fighting all forms of crime. They promise to be law-abiding in their political activities.
