Amid the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, on Thursday declared that the party is united.

Ayu made the remark while describing the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as a unifier.

He disclosed this at the flag-off of the party’s presidential and governorship campaign in Kwara State.

Ayu assured Nigerians that the former ruling party would rescue the country in 2023.

According to Ayu: “PDP is one big united family, and we are on our way to victory. PDP is back to rescue this country and we are a party for all. This is why we picked a unifier who will unite this country.

“We made a big mistake by listening to promises that we will change, are you comfortable with this change?”

PDP has been in crisis since it conducted its presidential primary election.

A group known as the Integrity group also known as G-5 have been agitating for equity in the zoning process within the party.

The group, led by Wike of Rivers State, had asked Ayu to resign from the office of the national chairman of the party.

They noted a particular zone can’t produce the party’s presidential candidate and National Chairman.
