The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna Command warned politicians in the State against making utterances that would jeopardize the Electoral law.

DAILY POST recalls that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba had during his weekly conference with officers, ordered them to ensure fortification of all INEC offices across the country.

He also directed all Divisional Police Officers and their supervisory Area Commanders to ensure round-the-clock tight security around INEC offices in their respective Area of Responsibility (AORs).

Following this, DSP Muhammed Jalige, Police Public Relations Officer in a statement on Tuesday, said the Commissioner,
CP Yekini A. Ayoku, while on operational tour of the two offices and facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kaduna metropolis to assess and upscale security deployment, warned politicians to stay away from behaviours that could be detrimental to laws guiding the electoral process.

According to the statement, CP Yekini, who was received by the commission’s Administrative Secretary, Alh. Auwal Mohammed Mashi, jointly inspected the facilities and reviewed deployments of officers, provided professional advice on how the INEC’s office and materials could be secured before, during and after the 2023 elections.

According to him, the CP took advantage of the visit to assure INEC of the strong support of the Police Command and that of other security agencies in the execution of the Commission’s mandate of conducting a free, fair and credible 2023 general election.

He also warned miscreants and mischief makers to steer clear of INEC facilities and advised political actors, candidates and their parties to play the game by the rules or have the law to contend with.
