Flamingos head coach Bankole Olowookere has expressed happiness, after leading the Nigerian team to third-place finish at the 2022 U-17 FIFA women’s World Cup in India.

Despite surrendering a 3-0 lead against Germany in Sunday’s third-place match, the Flamingos went on to win 3-2 on penalties.

The Germans came from behind to win 2-1 when both teams clashed in the group stage of the tournament.

It is the first time the Flamingos will finish on the podium since making their debut at the maiden edition in 2008.

And celebrating his team’s achievement, Olowookere thanked Nigerians for their support.
