The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has vowed to resign if anyone could come forward to prove that he promised him or her the plum job and didn’t honour his words.

The governor stated this on Monday night during a dinner/reception organized in his honour to celebrate the ‘Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery’ presented to him by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Wike insisted that he never promised anyone the governorship seat, saying that power belongs to God.

He said, “I told my people it is God that gives power. There is never any day I sat with anybody. I challenge whoever would say I sat with him, and I promised him he would be the Governor of Rivers.

“If anybody can come out and challenge me, I will resign as Governor of Rivers State.

“You want to become Governor? Is there anybody who dashed me governor? I worked, I fought for it. You, go and fight.”
