Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has lamented that the destruction of infrastructure due to the activities of insurgents across the state was enormous and thereby cannot be rebuilt by the state government alone.

Buni, through his Spokesperson Mamman Mohammed in a statement, raised the concern on Thursday in Damaturu, while receiving officials and members of the Progressive Young Women Forum.

He said although the carnage in the education sector was enormous, his government was determined to rejuvenate the sector.

According to him, that is why the government in the state organized an Education Trust Fund under a high-powered committee to assist in revitalizing the sector.

To achieve this, Buni noted that the government has renovated and constructed additional structures in many schools to decongest students in classrooms, while citing Arikime Primary School, Potiskum, as a classical example.

He also explained that the government embarked on training and retraining of teachers to enhance their skills for more productivity.

Similarly, Governor Buni said the healthcare sector will continue to receive government attention to provide accessible and affordable healthcare delivery to the people.

“One area that is receiving government attention is wealth creation and economic empowerment which covers both males and females.

“Government is currently working on a programme of massive intervention to provide youth with employment opportunities,” he said.
