Arsenal legend Ian Wright was frustrated and confused after watching left-back Nuno Tavares give away a foul throw which led to Newcastle’s first goal in the Premier League encounter on Monday.

Arsenal fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to the Magpies, a result that has put their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season under a huge threat.

Ben White scored an own goal and it came after Tavares gave away a foul throw.

Taveres’ blunder riled Wright and the former England striker was stunned that the full-back could make that kind of mistake in such a big game.

When you look at the first goal it was our throw on,” Wright told Premier League Productions.
