Saraki reacts to killing of kidnapped Kwara APC women leader, Olumo

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has condemned the killing of the abducted Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Mrs Olumo Abolaji in Kwara State.

DAILY POST reports that Mrs Olumo, who is the APC women leader in the Koro ward of the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state, was one of the eight people kidnapped on Wednesday evening between Araromi Opin and Obbo-Ile in the LG.

She was reportedly shot dead on Saturday during an exchange of gunfire between the bandits and a combined team of soldiers and hunters.

Reacting, Saraki, a 2023 presidential aspirant, expressed pain over the death, describing the deceased as a committed leader, saying she died while on duty.

In a statement on his verified Facebook page, Saraki commiserated with the family and the state’s APC chapter.

He said, “I am deeply saddened to read about the death of Mrs. Olumo Abolaji, the APC Women Leader of Ekiti LGA in Kwara State, who was abducted and subsequently killed by bandits during a rescue operation conducted by our gallant police force.

“Looking beyond party lines and political affiliations, we all have to acknowledge that women constantly have to struggle for space and make countless personal sacrifices that often go unnoticed. It pains me to hear about this committed community leader and organiser, who we have lost while in the line of duty.

“As we join her family, her community to mourn her passing, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the APC in Kwara State over this significant loss.

“It is our prayer that the family of Mrs. Abolaji, receives the much-needed strength from Almighty Allah at this difficult time”.
