Speaker Kennedy Ibeh (Nkenkenyi) writes off hospital bills today 26th Dec. 2021 as part of his many sacrifices marking the 2021 Christmas.
Noise of exclamation of the name Jesus! Jesus!! Jesus!!! rented the atmosphere as overtly astonished beneficiaries demanded Hallelujah from their shouts of praise the Lord.
It was firstly at Chinonyerem Hospital Alamkpu Umulogho to Our Lady of Mercy Hospital Obowo and to Dr. Anosike’s MacLawrence Hospital Umuariam. The Speaker went about paying hospital bills and discharging fully recovered hitherto patients and children who for lack of money have spent over one year in ‘hospital detention’.
Among the beneficiaries were three most touching cases;
Firstly was Mrs. Victoria Nathaniel a young woman who was delivered of twins through C- section since September 2021 but lost both babies out of complications with a bill of 320,000 naira, the poor woman and her husband remained detained in the hospital since then.
Another was a little boy who was delivered in Chinonyerem Hospital since one year and six months but has remained in the hospital with his mother. He sat up there, crawled there and now walking, yet remained without hope of discharge till Speaker Kennedy Ibeh showed up today.
Yet another was a lad Wale who was seen alone in the male ward of Mercy Hospital at the arrival of Mr. Speaker. Wale’s father we learnt is Yoruba but his mother is from Ehume Obowo. Wale was brought in by his grandmother and admitted for anemia since last week. After receiving treatment, Wales grandmother couldnt foot the bill. Wale’s mother is late. Nurses confessed they prayed ceaselessly for help for Wale whom at the time of Mr. Speaker’s arrival his grandmother was reportedly out in search of money to offset his hospital bills and take him home. Other patients who were discharged in Mercy Hospital and MacLawrence Hospital were also sent home by Mr. Speaker after writing off their hospitall bills. It is to them God’s way of answering their prayers as the beneficiaries remained thankful in tears.
These cases were pathetic and the event is only a pointer that Mr. Speaker is ruled by the Spirit of God as the Managements of these hospitals stressed that it could only take such intervention by the Rt. Hon. Speaker to release those beneficiaries as they entertained no hopes at all of paying their bills .
Other events made the day thick. Mr. Speaker moved to the palace of HRH Eze Thankgod Adighogu to identify with the Eze and his Ugoeze as they celebrated their 10th year anniversary on the throne.
Mr. Speaker thereafter proceeded to his Umuezeala Umuokeh country home to celebrate Christmas with his pet structure THE 100% HOPE Obowo, a mobilization and enlightenment organization supportive of the Governor of Imo State, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma and The All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Speaker while doling out materials and cash gifts charged the members to pray for the success of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s 3R administration as not to do so will be to set Imo backwards on the rail of development.
Mr. Speaker assured Members present that his resolve to team up with the Governor to keep delivering good government of Imo State is not negotiable and charged all present to join hands with him.
