Nigeria has taken possession of 501,600 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility.
The donation from the Government of France was received by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) on Friday.
At the National Strategic Cold Store, the Executive Director, Faisal Shuaib said Nigeria was among the African countries that gained from France’s gesture.
Shuaib said France has not only been a dependable ally but also brotherly in all ramifications.
He added that Nigeria’s vaccine storage facilities remain efficient and well maintained.
Nigeria first received COVID-19 vaccination on March 5, 2021 – four million doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines from COVAX.
The second phase was four million doses of Moderna vaccines from the United States Government.
The country also got 177,600 doses of Johnson and Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccines from the African Union (AU).
Nigeria again received 699,760 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines from the UK government.
