A cabinet reshuffle which has been speculated for a long time in the Uzodinma administration is now in the offing.

Reliable sources said the Governor is now ready to wield the big hammer, which is reshuffling his officials aimed at retooling his 3Rs government.

Sources told this online newspaper, that he is set to meet his appointees in a crucial meeting within the week.

The source said “The performances of the appointees will be evaluated based on what they come up with as their scorecard since they were appointed. A reshuffling cannot be ruled away.

“Do not also rule out the possibility of reducing the number of SAs and SSAs or some of them being reassigned. The Commissioners will not also escape being reshuffled or some of them, outrightly removed.

There has been reports of skirmishes between the Special Advisers and Commissioners, an anomaly caused by lack of clear designation/description of jobs or multiplication of portfolios.

Another source told INNONEWS “The Governor would caution his appointees. Some of them simply encroached into the designation of others. This caused confusion. His Excellency wants to put a stop to this.

Uzodinma had faced criticisms for appointing “over-bloated” number of SAs and SSAs, a factor identified to have caused disharmony in his administration.

INNONEWS also gathered that certain political developments in the APC in the State, could influence his resolve to rejig his cabinet.

Uzodinma had gone into “tactical alliance” with APC bigwigs, such as Minister of State, Education, Hon. Emeka Nwajiuba, ex allies of former Governor Rochas Okorocha led by former Deputy Governor, Eze Madumere, and other political interest groups within the APC.

“The Governor has built new allies and he has to accommodate them in his government. He cannot keep his allies in abeyance and rely solely on his CAMP HOPE team to propel his government. There has to be paradigm shift and he has commenced the process. Let’s watch and see the new development unfold”
