The Archbishop of the Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, Archbishop A. J. V. Obinna, on Sunday, in Owerri, lamented the incessant killings of the people of the South East by the herdsmen, saying the major problem of the people in the region are the uncontrolled killings and not necessarily the perilous CoVID-19.

He made the declaration when the Task Force on COVID-19 in the state led by Prof. Maurice Iwu and other members went to the Church as part of their measures to monitor compliance by some select churches in the state.

The primate urged the State Government to rather look into the issue of the Fulani invasion, citing an example of a woman who had her farmland and crops destroyed by the herdsmen at Irete, in Owerri West Local Government Area.

He noted that it was the dangerous situation in which the country finds itself now.
The man of God noted that it was one of the reasons the South East declared the state of Biafra in 1970, but the people of the North made it impossible then yet they still find it difficult up till now to allow the Southeastners to rest.

The Bishop urged governor Hope Uzodimma to look into the nature of partisan politics in the state, with a view to correcting some anomalies therein.
