Former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan were among the dignitaries that yesterday attended the 85th birthday thanksgiving service of the Esama of Benin kingdom, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion.

The St. Gabriel ArchAngel Catholic Church venue of the event in Benin City, was filled to capacity as the father of erstwhile Governor Lucky Igbinedion was celebrated by the two Nigerian ex-leaders alongside parishioners, traditional rulers, politicians, clerics, friends and business associates.

In his homily entitled, “Gratitude and Thanksgiving: A fulfilment of God’s will”, Rev. Fr. Alfred Agbonlahor charged the congregation to accord thanksgiving, a moral obligation of Christians, all the seriousness it deserves in order to attract God’s blessings.

The Catholic priest described the celebrant as a distinguished entrepreneur and a man after God’s heart exemplified in his contributions to the development of his home state of Edo and the nation at large.
