Following the killings in Enugu State recently by the Fulani herdsmen who invaded some of the communities, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu has sought the co-operation and understanding of the Fulani cattle rearers doing their trades in the state.

The Commissioner of Police who paid the Fulani herdsmen a visit Friday at their Obinze business location in Owerri West Local Government Area of the state admonished them on the need to live and cooperate with their host community and security agents in the state.

Mr Lakanu affirmed that his command was committed to ensuring a peaceful state, disclosed that he was passionate about having a secured state where everybody irrespective of where he/she comes from would freely operate and go about his/her lawful businesses.

The crime buster highlighted that Nigerians were one irrespective of ethnic differences and urged the cattle rearers to shun acts that would jeopardize the unity and prosperity of the state.

According to him, his command was ever ready to render assistance and rescue any emergency situation as he harped on peace and unity, stressing that there was no alternative to peaceful co-existence.
The CP who promised to engage the leadership of the Fulani herdsmen the more this week , said that he must find the best strategies that would make the cattle rearers and their host communities to live in peace and interact without any fear or molestation.
