When the rumour that Alvan Ikoku University of Education has been reverted to its former College of Education Status by the presidency, students of the institution went on a peaceful match to Imo State Government House comfirm the news.
While at the government House, the angry students were addressed by the SA to the Governor on ICT, Hon. Ik Ogbonna and host of other government officials present to calm them down. They assured the students that there was no iota of truth in the said rumour.
Hon. Ik Ogbonna reminded the Students that the Presidency who is poised for positive change has no time for negative change.
He went ahead to thank the Students for peacefully conducting themselves and did not allow themselves to be manipulated by those who made themselves enemies of the state.
Speaking further,Hon. Ik ogbonna said that he is sure that those behind the rumour will have their faces buried in basket of shame as their plan of triggering a violent Students protest did not work.
He maintained that God will continue to speak for the Government against her adversaries but called on all to be positive and support the government instead of resorting to cheap blackmail.
In a telephone response, the Chief of Staff,Imo State Government, UGWUMBA UCHE NWOSU also sent his words across,confirming that it was an infectious rumour,a handiwork of mischief makers.
Generally, one will ask, is politics of bitterness what we need now in the State?
If this State which is our Ship collapses, it will affect all of us, so why do you alway work to bring it down.
